DIY CONCEALING FOUNDATION POWDER & HIGHLIGHTER FOR OILY SKIN
OIL ABSORBING LOOSE POWDER
The body is made up of numerous sweat glands that releases liquid from the neck up the face during hot weather conditions in order to cool down the organs of the body.
Most people with oily skin tend to buy oil absorbing products from the store, these products contain several ingredients some of which are clay, baking soda, talc, ground oats and many others.
Few things you can purchase to create your own powder are:
- 1/4 cup of arrowroot powder or cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp of spice for color(cocoa powder, cinnamon or instant coffee works pretty well)
- 2 tsp ground oats(finely)
- 10 drops of grape seed or sweet almond oil
- few drops of essential oil of choice(tea tree, lavender or rosemary)
You can also make this into a face powder by adding ZINC OXIDE with sunscreen to mixture (zinc oxide is zinc that has been oxidized by heating & cooling after vaporization, result will be a white powder that mixes well with make up without any side effect that could be harmful)
DIY CONCEALER & HIGHLIGHTER
Highlighting & contouring is a method of applying makeup in a way that it accentuates and brightens the areas of the face you want more visible to lights & camera( nose bridge, eyes, forehead etc)

Firstly, let me share the DIY home made base lotion for concealer
- Shea butter
- Witch hazel
- Argan oil
- Aloe vera gel
- Vegetable based emulsifying wax
- Zinc oxide powder(non-nano & uncoated)
- Organic cocoa powder
- Kaolin clay, earth clay or bentonite clay
- Shea moisture agent
- Shea moisture olive oil & marula lotion
- Chamomile healing lotion
- 2 tsp of argan oil or jojoba oil
- 1 tsp of Shea butter
- 1/2 tsp emulsifying wax
- 1 tsp aloe gel
- 1 tsp witch hazel
Melt the Shea butter, argan oil & emulsifying wax in a double boiler until mixture is completely melted, then add your Aloe & witch hazel and mix until completely smooth & incorporated, then turn off heat, add the zinc oxide & clay(if using), then add cocoa powder a pinch at a time till you get the desired color(which should be lighter than your skin tone so it blends & lightens). Then drop the tip of a spoon into the mixture & let cool off a bit, then test color & coverage on your forehead & inner arm to make sure you have achieved the right tone for your skin, then spoon out mixture into a clean container & let cool.
N.B: more zinc oxide will result in more coverage while less zinc oxide will give thinner coverage, which is better for highlighting. For dark skin tones, you need less zinc and more of cocoa powder & a mineral powder in the color of your skin to help match the color more easily.
