Dreads are matted coil of hair created with two strand twist and there are different kinds of dreads namely :
                 Dread permdreadlock
                 Interlocking dreadlock
                 Crochet dreadlock
                 Twisted dreadlock
                 Backcombing
Whichever one of the above you have on doesn't really matter because they all have same method of healthy maintenance.
Steps to maintaining healthy locs
 .find yourself a good locktician:
A good stylist will give great advice, recommend healthy products and will listen to you carefully before twisting your hair.
 .massage your scalp regularly:
Doing this regularly not just relaxes but stimulates hair growth, massaging at night 5-10minutes will help achieve that beautiful locs you desire.
 .avoid retwisting your hair too often:
Retwisting your hair too much can lead to thinning at the root and breakage so look for a Protective hairstyle you can stay in with your hair in between retwists. Be creative with your look.
 .practice a daily night care:
Create a regimen for your hair, sleep with a silk wrap/scarf, this is very important because it helps prevent breakage and locs shed alot therefore protecting your scalp & edges is crucial.
 .be patient:
This is one method we all lack, but as we all know "rome wasn't built in a day" so also our hair process wont happen over night, it is a journey and it is quite different for everyone. Some hair locs faster than the others all depends on how you nuture and care for your hair, then trust me the growth will surely come so dont get discouraged my dear friends.
