THINGS TO NOTE BEFORE ADDING COLOR TO YOUR HAIR



Natural hair is a fine canvas for color, hence, if you are doing this for the first time, you should consider :
  • The color you want 
  • How these color will react with your kinks, coils or curls
  • How to maintain color without damaging your hair
  • What products you might want to purchase for the process
  • If you want to apply the chemical way or natural way
Here are few DIY natural products you can try:
  • Brew a very strong cup of coffee
  • Let it sit till it cools off
  • Add 2 cups of leave-in conditioner
  • Add 2 tsp of coffee grounds
  • Put mixture on clean hair
  • Let sit for 1 hr
  • Rinse with ACV
  • Repeat process to get desired shade.
  • Add 3 tsp Olive Oil/ Coconut Oil
  • With 4 tsp Henna
  • Mix well till it forms a paste
  • Wet hair with water
  • Apply mixture with a clean brush gently
  • Let sit for 20-30 minutes
  • Rinse out with water
  • Conditioner only for 5 minutes
  • Rinse and style as please
  • Add 3-5 tea bags in 2 cups of water
  • Apply to hair & let sit for 1 hour or overnight
  • Get herbal tea from dried rose hips
  • Strain & apply to hair 
  • Let sit for 20 minutes
  • Blend fresh carrot or beet
  • Add 1 cup of coconut oil to condition
  • Apply mixture to hair & wrap with plastic bag & scarf or towel
  • Let sit for an hour 
  • Rinse off and spray hair with ACV
  • Repeat application until you get your desired shade/tint
  • Extract juice from fresh lemon
  • Add 2 tsp vinegar
  • Apply to hair and let sit for 3 hrs
  • For more effect, sit under the sun.
Precautions
  1. Regular deep conditioning: color treated hair needs extra TLC hence, DC at least once a week
  1. Use a color preserving shampoo: this will help protect your hair color from bleeding out
  1. Do not shampoo hair before adding color: Dirty hair is ideal for color application as natural oils on scalp acts as a buffer between your scalp & chemical in the formula
  1. Watch the water: Washing hair too often causes hair loss, so reduce it.
  1. Stay away from Heat products such as straighteners, stylers etc.
